Care
Light
Stromanthe Charlie will not tolerate bright direct sunlight for very long if at all. However, very low light conditions will slow down the growth of the plant and increases the chance that overwatering will occur since the plant will be using less water. Moderate indirect light is ideal to encourage steady growth.
Water
Stromanthe Charlie prefers consistently moist soil, however its roots will not tolerate standing water. When repotting, it is important that the soil and new pot is well-draining. If the soil is too dry, leaves will respond by curling and becoming crisp.
Care
Humidity is important for Stromanthe Charlie to thrive, so we recommend misting this plant often or implementing a pebble tray for added humidity. Stromanthe will benefit from being fertilized every month in the growing season. When fertilizing, we recommend diluting a general houseplant fertilizer by about half. Stromanthe can be propagated through root division. The leaves should be wiped down monthly with a damp cloth to keep all dust off and have the leaves looking nice and shiny. Browning tips on this plant can be the result of one or many of these reasons: Too much light, not water often enough, not enough humidity, or a salt build up in the soil.
