Care
Light
Grows best in moderate to low light conditions. We like to rotate this plant forty-five degrees every time we water it to keep the compact growth uniform.
Water
We keep the Janet Craig Compacta on the drier side of the water spectrum. This will protect it from getting root rot which it is prone to do. Browning leaves is an indication that it should be watered more often.
Care
The Janet Craig Compacta is a relatively easy houseplant to care for. This Dracaena is a slow grower and really doesn’t require much fertilizer. It can be fertilized about twice a year with a diluted houseplant fertilizer. The Compacta performs fine in normal household humidity levels. The leaves are compact and can collect a lot of dust which should be wiped down with a damp cloth monthly. As it grows, the lower leaves will naturally brown and fall off. When browning leaves occur they can be pruned off for a cleaner look.
