Watering:

Begonias like their soil to stay evenly moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. They’re a bit sensitive to drying out, so don’t let them go too long without water. Avoid getting water on the leaves, as this can cause spotting or mildew. They’re also sensitive to the chemicals in tap water, so using distilled or rainwater is a good idea.

Light:

Begonias thrive in bright, indirect light. An east- or west or south-facing window is ideal. Too much direct sunlight can scorch their delicate leaves, but too little light can lead to leggy growth. They love a spot with plenty of filtered light, where they can show off their beautiful foliage.

General Care:

• Fertilizing: Feed every 4-6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, diluted fertilizer to support their growth and keep their leaves vibrant.

• Pest Control: Begonias can attract pests like aphids or spider mites. If you notice any, treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap.

• Repotting: Repot every 1-2 years or when the plant outgrows its pot. Use a well-draining potting mix to avoid waterlogged roots.

• Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity, so mist regularly or place near a humidifier. If the edges of the leaves turn brown, it could be a sign the air is too dry.

• Pruning & Propagation: Prune to control size and shape, and to remove any dead or damaged leaves. Propagate by leaf or stem cuttings—just place them in water or soil, and watch them grow!
