Pothos Plants

Easy-to-Care-For Beauties

Welcome to Plant Proper, your go-to spot for a range of beautiful pothos plants that fit in any indoor garden. The scientific name for these plants is Epipremnum aureum, but people often call them pothos, devil's ivy, or devil's vine. These plants are well-known for their toughness and ability to clean the air. Pothos plants make a great pick to add some green to your space, no matter if you're just starting out or you've been gardening for years.

Why Pothos Plants?

Pothos plants have a reputation as one of the easiest houseplants to take care of. They can clean gaseous toxins like formaldehyde from the air, which makes them pretty and good for you. In nature, these plants can grow up to 60 feet (18 meters) as they climb trees. In non-tropical outdoor areas, they can get as tall as 20 feet (6 meters), and inside homes, they vine six to 10 feet (1.8 to 3 meters). Their leaves, which can grow three feet (one meter) long in the wild, will be four to eight inches (10-20 centimeters) when grown indoors.

Pothos Plant Care Tips

  • Lighting: Pothos plants are adaptable and can thrive in most lighting conditions. However, they prefer moderate indirect light. Avoid bright direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
  • Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's better to underwater than overwater.
  • Humidity: Pothos plants prefer higher humidity but will tolerate average household humidity levels.
  • Fertilizing: You can fertilize your pothos every month or so to encourage growth.
  • Pruning: Prune back the vines to encourage a fuller appearance and to manage their growth.
  • Propagation: Pothos are easily propagated through leaf cuttings. Place the cuttings in water or directly into the soil, and watch them grow.
