Care
Light
As an understory plant, Calatheas will not tolerate bright direct sunlight for very long. However, very low light conditions will slow down the growth of the plant and increases the chance that overwatering will occur since the plant will be using less water. Moderate indirect light is ideal to encourage steady growth.
Water
Calathea prefer consistently moist soil, however their roots will not tolerate standing water. When repotting, it is important that the soil and new pot is well-draining. If the soil is too dry, leaves will respond by curling and becoming crisp.
Care
Humidity is important for the Calathea Vittata plant to thrive, so we recommend misting this plant often or implementing a pebble tray for added humidity. Calathea will benefit from being fertilized every month in the growing season. When fertilizing, we recommend diluting a general houseplant fertilizer by about half. Calathea can be propagated through root division. The leaves should be wiped down monthly with a damp cloth to keep all dust off and have the leaves looking nice and shiny.
