Care
Light
Alocasia Chantrieri prefer bright indirect light for the best color and growth. We recommend keeping your Alocasia out of the bright direct sun, which can burn the foliage.
Water
Overwatering is a special danger to the Alocasia Chantrieri because if the rhizome rots, the plant may not recover. It is very important to make sure that the top few inches of soil are dry in between waterings to prevent overwatering. Underwatering may result in a slightly wilted appearance, but the plant should recover quickly once watered.
Care
Alocasia Chantrieri grows from an underground stem called a rhizome, which is similar to a bulb. If the plant were to lose its leaves, it can regrow from the rhizome. Alocasia Chantrieri will appreciate higher levels of humidity provided by misting or a humidifier. We recommend fertilizing this plant every month during spring and summer with a diluted general houseplant fertilizer. Propagation is done by separating offsets from the rhizome. We like to wipe the large leaves down monthly to keep photosynthesis at its best and the foliage clean.
