Care
Light
This plant enjoys moderate to bright indirect light. It will tolerate lower light conditions as well. Morning sunlight is preferred as it is less intense than afternoon sunlight, but too much direct bright light will scorch the foliage.
Water
We recommend allowing the soil to nearly completely dry out between waterings. The number one sign of underwatering is drooping leaves. You can tell if you are overwatering by the leaves yellowing and falling off. Overwatering may eventually lead to root and stem rot.
Care
Philodendron McDowell enjoys higher levels of humidity due to its large leaves but will tolerate normal household humidity if necessary. It wouldn't hurt to mist this plant occasionally though. Because the stems of this plant grow parallel to the ground rather than upwards, a wide pot is a good choice. Stem cuttings of this Philodendron can be taken, we recommend placing the cutting directly in soil to root rather than in water. You can fertilize every month or so during spring through summer with a normal house plant fertilizer.
