Agave typically needs very well-draining soil to prevent root rot. Agave will typically be happy with average household humidity and prefers lower levels of humidity. This plant should be fertilized monthly through the spring and summer with a diluted general houseplant fertilizer.

The leaves of Agave are waxy and succulent, and they will tolerate minimum levels of watering. We recommend allowing the soil to nearly completely dry out between waterings. The number one sign of underwatering is drooping, wilted leaves. You can tell if you are overwatering by the leaves yellowing and falling off. Overwatering may eventually lead to root rot.
