Care
Light
The Hypoestes plant thrives in bright indirect light. Too much direct sunlight or too little light can cause the colors of the foliage to fade. If you notice your leaves curling or a brown spot appearing this can be a sign of too much light. Try to move it to a spot with more shade preferably from your east or south-facing window.
Water
The Hypoestes plant need to be watered when the first inch of soil is drying up. You don't want to overwater this plant as this will cause your plant to get root rot. You also don't want the soil to completely dry up. It is a good idea to reduce the amount of water you give your plant during the winter and pick up again during the spring.
Care
This is a plant that deserves a little bit of your attention. We recommend fertilizing it every month in the growing season with a diluted houseplant fertilizer. The Hypoestes is native to Madagascar so it does enjoy higher levels of humidity with temperatures between 70 to 80 degrees. It will enjoy a good misting every so often. You should prune the plant from time to time to prevent it from looking thin with space in between the leaves as well as some of the flowers that take away the energy from the leaves.
